FD60 fire doors for Hampshire buildings

Our FD60 fire doors service runs throughout Hampshire. Main towns include Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke, and we cover the smaller places in between.

FD60 openings in Hampshire buildings tend to be stair cores, plant rooms and bin stores in larger blocks and commercial premises. For FD60 work in Hampshire we generally fit certified doorsets, so frame and leaf share the same test evidence.

Fire door work in Hampshire spans housing providers with large estates, individual landlords, businesses and homeowners. We price every job from a survey, never from a list price alone, because the condition of the frames and the hardware makes a real difference.

What do you hand over at the end?

For every FD60 opening we record the product and certificate reference, the gap measurements, the hinge and closer specification, how the frame was fixed and what was used to seal the frame-to-structure gap, with photographs before the architraves go on. That record is what your fire risk assessor or building control officer will ask for.

Which fire door rules apply in Hampshire?

The rules that apply to fire doors in Hampshire are England's. The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 must keep fire doors in non-domestic premises and the common parts of flats in working order; the Fire Safety Act 2021 confirmed that this includes flat entrance doors onto common parts.

Where a Hampshire block is above 11 metres, regulation 10 of the 2022 regulations means communal doors are checked every three months and flat entrance doors annually on a best-endeavours basis. Replacement doors must also satisfy the Building Regulations, with Approved Document B as the guidance most building control bodies work from.

The steps on a Hampshire installation

  1. Confirm the 60-minute requirement against the fire strategy
  2. Survey structure, opening size and wall type
  3. Order the certified doorset with ironmongery to its evidence
  4. Install the frame, fix and seal it to the structure
  5. Hang, adjust and test the leaf, closer and latching
  6. Record evidence and make good

What does FD60 fire doors cost in Hampshire?

Questions

Do you provide FD60 fire doors across Hampshire?

Yes. We cover all of Hampshire, including Southampton and Portsmouth. Surveys and written quotes are free.

Do FD60 doors need smoke seals?

If the fire strategy asks for smoke control, yes: the door will be specified as FD60S or E60Sa with smoke seals. Many plant room doors are FD60 without a smoke requirement.

Can I upgrade an FD30 door to FD60?

Not by adding parts. An FD30 leaf cannot be turned into an FD60 door with extra strips or paint. If an opening needs 60 minutes, the leaf, and usually the frame, need to be replaced with a certified FD60 product.
