Fire door frames in Essex, done to the evidence
Across Essex, from Southend-on-Sea to Basildon, we survey, supply and fit fire door frames for homes, blocks of flats and workplaces.
In older buildings the frame can be the weak point even where the leaf is sound, so we check it on every Essex survey. We photograph every frame we fix in Essex before the architraves go on, so the hidden work is on record.
Essex has a mix of buildings, from purpose-built blocks to converted houses and commercial premises. We tailor the programme to the building, not the other way round.
Frames on their own
Where a leaf is sound but the frame is not, a new compatible frame can sometimes be fitted to the existing leaf, provided the combination is supported by the leaf's certification. More often, a frame replacement is part of a doorset installation.
What the rules say for Essex
In Essex, as elsewhere in England, the starting point is the Fire Safety Order 2005: whoever controls a workplace or the shared parts of a residential block must make sure its fire doors work. When doors are replaced, the Building Regulations and Approved Document B set the standard the new work has to meet.
Blocks above 11 metres have a specific routine under regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022: quarterly checks of communal fire doors and annual best-endeavours checks of flat front doors. If your Essex building is a higher-risk building under the Building Safety Act 2022, we confirm the approval route with the Principal Accountable Person before any work is ordered.

Fire door frames questions
Do you provide fire door frames across Essex?
Yes. We cover all of Essex, including Southend-on-Sea and Basildon. Surveys and written quotes are free.
Why do you photograph the frame before fitting architraves?
Because the fixing and sealing are hidden once the architraves go on. Photographs give you evidence that the hidden work was done correctly.
Can a new frame be fitted to my existing door?
Sometimes, if the frame is compatible with the door's certification. Often it is simpler and better evidenced to replace the whole doorset.
