Glazed fire doors: our service in Strood
From the ME2 postcode district outwards, we take on glazed fire doors across Strood for homes, blocks and workplaces.
In and around Strood, fire door work covers everything from schools to care homes. We plan each job around the people who use the building.
We check glazed doors in Strood for both fire performance and safety glazing before recommending repair or replacement. Schools, offices and care settings in Strood often need vision panels, and each one has to use fire-rated glass in a tested system.
Safety and visibility
Glass in doors also has to meet safety glazing rules, so the fire-rated glass chosen needs to be suitable for impact as well. For schools and care settings we also consider where the panel sits so that children or wheelchair users can see through it.
What you get:
- Safety glazing and visibility considerations
- Fire-rated glass suited to the rating and location
- Tested beads, glazing seals and fixings
- Evidence of the glazing system fitted
What the rules say for Strood
In Strood, as elsewhere in England, the starting point is the Fire Safety Order 2005: whoever controls a workplace or the shared parts of a residential block must make sure its fire doors work. When doors are replaced, the Building Regulations and Approved Document B set the standard the new work has to meet.
Blocks above 11 metres have a specific routine under regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022: quarterly checks of communal fire doors and annual best-endeavours checks of flat front doors. If your Strood building is a higher-risk building under the Building Safety Act 2022, we confirm the approval route with the Principal Accountable Person before any work is ordered.

Questions from Strood
Do you cover ME2 and nearby postcodes?
Yes. We cover Strood including ME2, and nearby towns such as Rochester and Chatham. The survey and written quote are free.
How quickly can you survey in Strood?
It depends on the number of doors and access, but we offer survey dates as soon as we reply to your enquiry. If an inspection has found urgent safety issues, tell us and we'll prioritise.
Can you add a vision panel to my existing fire door?
Only if the door's certification allows an aperture of that size and position. Most existing doors cannot be modified this way, so a new glazed doorset is usually needed.
Are wired glass fire doors still acceptable?
Some older doors use wired glass. Whether it is acceptable depends on its fire rating and whether it meets safety glazing rules for that location. We advise case by case.
