Getting fire door frames right in Shropshire
Our fire door frames service runs throughout Shropshire. Main towns include Telford, Shrewsbury and Wellington, and we cover the smaller places in between.
Frame-to-wall gaps on Shropshire jobs are sealed with materials supported by the test evidence, as BS 8214:2026 sets out. In older buildings the frame can be the weak point even where the leaf is sound, so we check it on every Shropshire survey.
Wherever your building is in Shropshire, the fire safety duties come from national rules, and our installation standard is the same.
Frames on their own
Where a leaf is sound but the frame is not, a new compatible frame can sometimes be fitted to the existing leaf, provided the combination is supported by the leaf's certification. More often, a frame replacement is part of a doorset installation.
Which fire door rules apply in Shropshire?
Fire doors in Shropshire fall under English rules. New and replacement doors are covered by the Building Regulations 2010 and Approved Document B. In workplaces and the common parts of blocks, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, as clarified by the Fire Safety Act 2021, puts the duty on the responsible person to keep fire doors suitable and maintained.
For residential buildings in Shropshire above 11 metres, regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 adds checks: communal fire doors at least every three months and best-endeavours checks of flat entrance doors at least every twelve months. Higher-risk buildings of at least 18 metres or seven storeys also come under the Building Safety Act 2022, where works may need approval from the Building Safety Regulator.

Questions
Do you provide fire door frames across Shropshire?
Yes. We cover all of Shropshire, including Telford and Shrewsbury. Surveys and written quotes are free.
Can I use expanding foam around a fire door frame?
Only a fire-rated foam with evidence for that use and gap size. Ordinary expanding foam is not suitable.
What is the frame-to-wall gap?
It is the space between the door frame and the surrounding wall, normally hidden by the architrave. If it is not filled with a suitable fire-resisting material, fire and smoke can pass around the door.
