Steel fire doors in Wednesbury: what's involved
When you book steel fire doors in Wednesbury, the aim is simple: doors that close, latch and seal as tested, with records that prove it.
Wednesbury has a broad mix of buildings, including schools, houses with integral garages and care homes, and the same fire door principles apply to all of them.
Plant rooms, bin stores and warehouses in and around Wednesbury often call for steel doorsets that can take knocks and damp. For steel fire doors in Wednesbury we order factory-prepared doorsets so the hardware matches the test evidence exactly.
Security and finishes
Steel fire doors can combine fire resistance with security features such as heavier locks and anti-jemmy details, within the evidence. They are usually powder coated in a range of colours, which gives a hard-wearing finish for back-of-house areas.
Each installation includes:
- Frame anchoring and gap sealing to instructions
- Single and double steel doorsets
- Ratings to suit the wall, including 60 minutes
- Locks, closers and panic hardware as specified
Fire door law for Wednesbury properties
The rules that apply to fire doors in Wednesbury are England's. The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 must keep fire doors in non-domestic premises and the common parts of flats in working order; the Fire Safety Act 2021 confirmed that this includes flat entrance doors onto common parts.
Where a Wednesbury block is above 11 metres, regulation 10 of the 2022 regulations means communal doors are checked every three months and flat entrance doors annually on a best-endeavours basis. Replacement doors must also satisfy the Building Regulations, with Approved Document B as the guidance most building control bodies work from.
