Riser and cupboard fire doors: our service in Merthyr Tydfil
Our riser and cupboard fire doors service covers Merthyr Tydfil and the wider Mid Glamorgan area. Every job starts with a survey of the openings, so the quote reflects your actual doors rather than a guess.
Fire doors in Merthyr Tydfil protect escape routes in care homes, houses with integral garages and light industrial buildings alike. We adapt the programme to the building and its occupants, never the standard of the installation.
Riser and meter cupboard doors in Merthyr Tydfil blocks are easy to overlook until an inspection flags them. While fitting riser doors in Merthyr Tydfil, we photograph any gaps in fire stopping we can see and pass them on to you.
Why riser doors get overlooked
Service riser doors are small, often hidden and rarely opened, so they are easy to forget until an inspection finds them. Common faults include cheap access panels that are not fire rated, missing seals, broken locks and doors that have been removed for access and never refitted. A riser runs through every floor, so a weak door can let fire or smoke bypass the building's compartments.
What you get:
- Locks and keep-locked arrangements as specified
- Seals and frame gap sealing
- Single and double flush configurations
- Signage as required
The regulations behind fire doors in Merthyr Tydfil
Fire door work in Merthyr Tydfil follows Welsh building regulations and the Welsh Approved Document B. The Fire Safety Order 2005 covers workplaces and the shared parts of residential buildings here too, placing the duty on the responsible person.
The English regulation 10 checking regime does not extend to Merthyr Tydfil, so how often doors are checked comes from the fire risk assessment. We hand over evidence that fits whatever regime your assessor sets.

Questions
Do you work in Merthyr Tydfil?
Yes, we take on riser and cupboard fire doors in Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding area, including Aberdare and Rhondda. Send your postcode and a few details and we'll come back with survey dates.
Do I need to be there for the survey?
Someone needs to give us access to the doors. For blocks and commercial buildings, a caretaker or site contact is fine; for HMOs and homes, we agree a time with you or your tenants.
Do riser doors need closers?
Not if they are kept locked shut and the fire strategy allows it; they should then be labelled accordingly. Cupboards that are opened regularly normally need self-closers.
Do you fix fire stopping inside risers?
Fire stopping is a separate specialist trade. We record anything we see while fitting doors and can coordinate with your fire stopping contractor.
