What riser and cupboard fire doors in Maesteg should include
Our riser and cupboard fire doors service in Maesteg is simple: a survey, a fixed quote, certified products and an installation finished to the manufacturer's evidence.
Maesteg has a broad mix of buildings, including schools, small blocks of flats and houses with integral garages, and the same fire door principles apply to all of them.
While fitting riser doors in Maesteg, we photograph any gaps in fire stopping we can see and pass them on to you. Riser and meter cupboard doors in Maesteg blocks are easy to overlook until an inspection flags them.
Closer or lock?
Doors on stores and risers that are kept locked shut usually do not need a self-closer, as long as the strategy allows it and the door is marked accordingly. Doors that are used regularly, such as cleaner's stores, usually do. We follow the fire strategy and the risk assessment for each opening.
Each installation includes:
- Locks and keep-locked arrangements as specified
- Seals and frame gap sealing
- Record of any fire stopping concerns found
- Single and double flush configurations
Rules and responsibilities in Maesteg
Because Maesteg is in Wales, we work to the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales and to the Welsh version of Approved Document B. The responsible person duties under the Fire Safety Order 2005 still apply to workplaces and common parts.
England's fire door checking rules for tall residential buildings do not apply in Wales, so the checking frequency for doors in Maesteg comes from your fire risk assessment.
Which buildings in Maesteg need riser and cupboard fire doors?
Landlords, managing agents, facilities teams and homeowners in Maesteg can all commission riser and cupboard fire doors from us. The usual settings are hotels and blocks of flats, though single doors for student accommodation are just as welcome.

Common questions
Is Maesteg within your coverage area?
It is. We cover Maesteg in Mid Glamorgan and neighbouring towns such as Briton Ferry. There is no charge for the survey.
What happens on a survey in Maesteg?
We look at every door in scope: the leaf, frame, gaps, seals, hinges, closer, glazing and how the frame is fixed. You then get a written quote that prices each door separately.
Can I use a standard access panel for a riser?
Only if it is a fire-rated product with evidence for the wall rating. Many ordinary access panels and cupboard doors are not fire rated.
What rating should a riser door be?
It should match the fire resistance the strategy requires for the riser enclosure, commonly 30 or 60 minutes. We confirm it before ordering.
