Riser and cupboard fire doors in Ammanford, done to the evidence
Our riser and cupboard fire doors service covers Ammanford and the wider Dyfed area. Every job starts with a survey of the openings, so the quote reflects your actual doors rather than a guess.
Ammanford has a broad mix of buildings, including light industrial buildings, houses with integral garages and care homes, and the same fire door principles apply to all of them.
We match riser doors in Ammanford to the rating of the riser enclosure, not to whatever was there before. While fitting riser doors in Ammanford, we photograph any gaps in fire stopping we can see and pass them on to you.
Why riser doors get overlooked
Service riser doors are small, often hidden and rarely opened, so they are easy to forget until an inspection finds them. Common faults include cheap access panels that are not fire rated, missing seals, broken locks and doors that have been removed for access and never refitted. A riser runs through every floor, so a weak door can let fire or smoke bypass the building's compartments.
On a typical job that means:
- Locks and keep-locked arrangements as specified
- Fire-rated riser and cupboard doorsets
- Signage as required
- Seals and frame gap sealing
The regulations behind fire doors in Ammanford
Because Ammanford is in Wales, we work to the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales and to the Welsh version of Approved Document B. The responsible person duties under the Fire Safety Order 2005 still apply to workplaces and common parts.
England's fire door checking rules for tall residential buildings do not apply in Wales, so the checking frequency for doors in Ammanford comes from your fire risk assessment.
Which buildings in Ammanford need riser and cupboard fire doors?
From office buildings to blocks of flats, the requirement for riser and cupboard fire doors in Ammanford comes from the fire strategy or risk assessment for the building. We work from that document, or help you interpret your inspection report, before quoting.

Common questions
Is Ammanford within your coverage area?
It is. We cover Ammanford in Dyfed and neighbouring towns such as Gorseinon. There is no charge for the survey.
Do I need to be there for the survey?
Someone needs to give us access to the doors. For blocks and commercial buildings, a caretaker or site contact is fine; for HMOs and homes, we agree a time with you or your tenants.
Do riser doors need closers?
Not if they are kept locked shut and the fire strategy allows it; they should then be labelled accordingly. Cupboards that are opened regularly normally need self-closers.
Can I use a standard access panel for a riser?
Only if it is a fire-rated product with evidence for the wall rating. Many ordinary access panels and cupboard doors are not fire rated.
