In and around Merthyr Tydfil, fire door work covers everything from light industrial buildings to schools. We plan each job around the people who use the building.
If you are selling a home in Merthyr Tydfil, we can leave product details for your solicitor along with the door. For homes in Merthyr Tydfil with an integral garage, the door into the house is one of the few internal doors expected to be fire-rated and self-closing.
When you might need a new garage door
The usual triggers are building control flagging the door during a conversion or extension, a house sale survey raising it, or the discovery that the original door has been swapped for a standard internal door. Some garage conversions remove the need altogether; others create new requirements. Our guide to fire doors in houses explains when they are needed.
Each installation includes:
- Survey of the opening, threshold and step
- Certified FD30S door or doorset
- Self-closer set gently but positively
- Product details for building control or your solicitor

Common questions
Do you work in Merthyr Tydfil?
Yes, we take on integral garage fire doors in Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding area, including Aberdare and Rhondda. Send your postcode and a few details and we'll come back with survey dates.
Can you work from an existing inspection report for my Merthyr Tydfil building?
Yes. Send it over and we can often price straight from it, then confirm on site. We report back against the same door references so you can close actions off.
Can it match my other doors?
Often, yes. Many certified ranges include panelled and flush styles in finishes that blend with standard internal doors.
Does my garage door need to be a fire door?
If the garage is integral to the house, Approved Document B in England expects the connecting door to be a fire door with smoke control. Requirements in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are similar in purpose but set out in their own guidance.
