For commercial buildings in Wednesfield, we coordinate access control and alarm interfaces before the doors arrive. Each commercial door we fit in Wednesfield gets a record your fire risk assessor can use straight away.
Access control and hold-opens
Modern offices and hotels often combine fire doors with access control, electric locks and hold-open devices linked to the fire alarm. Electric locking on an escape route has to release safely, and any holes, cables and devices in the door must be covered by the evidence. We coordinate with your security and fire alarm contractors on the interfaces.
Each installation includes:
- Glazed and solid options to certification
- Per-door evidence for your fire risk assessment
- Doorsets with veneer, laminate or paint finishes
- Out-of-hours and phased working
The regulations behind fire doors in Wednesfield
The rules that apply to fire doors in Wednesfield are England's. The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 must keep fire doors in non-domestic premises and the common parts of flats in working order; the Fire Safety Act 2021 confirmed that this includes flat entrance doors onto common parts.
Where a Wednesfield block is above 11 metres, regulation 10 of the 2022 regulations means communal doors are checked every three months and flat entrance doors annually on a best-endeavours basis. Replacement doors must also satisfy the Building Regulations, with Approved Document B as the guidance most building control bodies work from.
