Riser and cupboard fire doors for Carrickfergus buildings
If you need riser and cupboard fire doors in Carrickfergus, we can survey, supply and install, then leave you the evidence your fire risk assessor will ask for.
Carrickfergus has a broad mix of buildings, including small blocks of flats, light industrial buildings and houses with integral garages, and the same fire door principles apply to all of them.
Riser and meter cupboard doors in Carrickfergus blocks are easy to overlook until an inspection flags them. We match riser doors in Carrickfergus to the rating of the riser enclosure, not to whatever was there before.
Closer or lock?
Doors on stores and risers that are kept locked shut usually do not need a self-closer, as long as the strategy allows it and the door is marked accordingly. Doors that are used regularly, such as cleaner's stores, usually do. We follow the fire strategy and the risk assessment for each opening.
On a typical job that means:
- Single and double flush configurations
- Seals and frame gap sealing
- Fire-rated riser and cupboard doorsets
- Locks and keep-locked arrangements as specified
Which fire door rules apply in Carrickfergus?
Fire door work in Carrickfergus follows Northern Ireland's rules: the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012, with Technical Booklet E as the fire safety guidance, and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 for premises covered by the 2006 Order.
Council building control handles building work approvals in Northern Ireland, and your fire risk assessment sets the inspection frequency for doors in Carrickfergus.

Questions
Do you cover BT38 and nearby postcodes?
Yes. We cover Carrickfergus including BT38, and nearby towns such as Newtownabbey and Bangor. The survey and written quote are free.
Can you work from an existing inspection report for my Carrickfergus building?
Yes. Send it over and we can often price straight from it, then confirm on site. We report back against the same door references so you can close actions off.
Do you fix fire stopping inside risers?
Fire stopping is a separate specialist trade. We record anything we see while fitting doors and can coordinate with your fire stopping contractor.
Do riser doors need closers?
Not if they are kept locked shut and the fire strategy allows it; they should then be labelled accordingly. Cupboards that are opened regularly normally need self-closers.
