Loft conversion fire doors in Llanelli: what's involved
If you need loft conversion fire doors in Llanelli, we can survey, supply and install, then leave you the evidence your fire risk assessor will ask for.
Around Llanelli, light industrial buildings, small offices and small blocks of flats all depend on fire doors that close, latch and seal. We survey each opening and tell you plainly which doors need work and which don't.
For homes in Llanelli, we match fire doors to your existing style wherever certified options allow. A loft conversion in Llanelli that adds a new storey often brings a building control requirement for fire doors on rooms off the stair.
Why loft conversions trigger fire doors
A two-storey house usually lets people escape from upstairs windows. Once a loft room is added, the top floor is too high for that, so the stair becomes the escape route and has to be protected from the ground floor up. That is why building control often asks for fire doors on rooms off the stair, including existing ground and first-floor rooms, not just the new loft room.
What you get:
- Product details for building control
- Fire-tested hinges and intumescent strips as required
- Check of which openings need fire doors
- Work coordinated with your builder
Fire door law for Llanelli properties
Llanelli is in Wales, where new and replacement fire doors are covered by the Building Regulations 2010 as applied in Wales, with the Welsh Approved Document B as guidance. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 also applies, so responsible persons in workplaces and the common parts of blocks must keep fire doors maintained.
One difference from England: regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, with its quarterly and annual fire door checks, does not apply in Wales. Your fire risk assessment sets the checking regime instead, and we work to it.

Questions from Llanelli
Is Llanelli within your coverage area?
It is. We cover Llanelli in Dyfed and neighbouring towns such as Gorseinon. There is no charge for the survey.
How quickly can you survey in Llanelli?
It depends on the number of doors and access, but we offer survey dates as soon as we reply to your enquiry. If an inspection has found urgent safety issues, tell us and we'll prioritise.
Do loft conversion fire doors need closers?
Not usually within a single-family house in England. In Scotland, doors onto the protected stair enclosure are expected to be self-closing. Wales and Northern Ireland have their own guidance, and your building control body may ask for something different in particular layouts.
Can you match my existing doors?
Certified fire doors come in many styles, including panelled and cottage designs, so a close match is usually possible.
