Where doors in Wrexham care homes, schools or offices are being wedged open, a hold-open device is the safe fix. Free-swing closers suit Wrexham settings where residents or pupils find doors hard to open.
Types of hold-open
Electromagnetic door holders are wall or floor magnets wired to the fire alarm. Hold-open closers combine the closer and the hold-open in one unit. Free-swing closers let the door move freely and close it on alarm. Some battery units listen for the alarm sound; these must be suitable for the alarm system and the building. The right choice depends on the door, the alarm and how people use the space.
What you get:
- Electromagnetic holders to BS EN 1155
- Record of devices and test results
- Hold-open and free-swing closers
- Coordination of alarm interface
The regulations behind fire doors in Wrexham
Because Wrexham is in Wales, we work to the Building Regulations as they apply in Wales and to the Welsh version of Approved Document B. The responsible person duties under the Fire Safety Order 2005 still apply to workplaces and common parts.
England's fire door checking rules for tall residential buildings do not apply in Wales, so the checking frequency for doors in Wrexham comes from your fire risk assessment.
